Gavin Farinha, a left-handed pitcher who throws 90-plus, has signed his National Letter of Intent to play baseball at The Master's University beginning with the 2023-24 school year.

Farinha, now a senior at Turlock Christian High School in Turlock, Calif., threw six no-hitters last year in his junior season, went 12-0 with 10 complete games and an ERA of 0.00. He has offers from some of the top baseball schools in the country, and will likely be considered a top draft prospect in the MLB Amateur Draft in July, but his choice is to play college ball at The Master's.

"The reason I chose Master's is because I believe that my spiritual life and how I grow as a man is more important than the game," Farinha said. "I had plenty of D1 offers, but I feel like this is the number one way I can repay my gift back to God."

Farinha's six no hitters and 12 wins was No. 1 in the country last year, and his 155 strikeouts in 72 innings pitched ranked him No. 3. Opponents hit just .036 against him all season.

"Gavin has a strong desire to grow in his Christian faith, to earn a degree in business, and to manifest his God-given talents in our baseball program," said The Master's Head Coach Monte Brooks. "Gavin is an outstanding left-handed pitcher who exhibits intelligence, competitiveness, and discipline on the baseball field. It is exciting to have such a high-caliber athlete come to the university who has already had much success in his own community. He will be a tremendous asset to TMU."

The Master's baseball season begins begins Jan. 17 with an exhibition game against Azusa Pacific at 2 p.m. at Lou Herwaldt Stadium. The season begins for real with a double-header at home against Simpson University on Jan. 28. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
