The Master's University baseball team lost the first game of their final series of the season against OUAZ on the road on Thursday by a score of 7-6 in Suprise, Ariz.
The game went into extra innings with back-and-forth action throughout the 12 innings.
OUAZ struck first with three runs in the bottom of the first to take the early advantage. TMU wouldn't get on the scoreboard until the 7th inning with a
Cole Rohlmeier RBI single. In the following inning,
Mikey Murr ripped a triple that scored two runs to tie the score and TMU took the lead off an
Isaiah Morales single.
OUAZ was able to get one more run across in the eighth inning to send the game into extras.
The Mustangs looked poised to take the game in the top of the 10th, with another Rohlmeier RBI base knock. But the Spirit responded again in the bottom of the frame, tying the game right back up at 5-5. It was more of the same in the 11th, as
Scotty Pieper scored off a double from
Zach Jenkins. However, OUAZ got one more run across in the bottom of the 11th and walked it off with a RBI double in the 12th.
Rohlmeier had two hits and two RBIs, and so did Murr. Morales also had three base knocks.
The loss drops TMU to 13-12 in GSAC play, as they are looking to stay in the top 4 of the GSAC standings to make the GSC tournament.
