The Master's University baseball team dropped their final game of the 2026 season, falling to OUAZ by a score of 11-10 in extra innings on Saturday in Suprise, Ariz.
TMU entered the series needing just one win to clinch a spot in the GSAC tournament, but Benedictine Mesa passed the Mustangs for the No. 4 seed with their back-to-back wins over Arizona Christian.
Senior
Zach Jenkins kick-started the offense with a 2-RBI single in the first inning. TMU tacked on three more runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 5-1 lead. OUAZ rallied, and put up a crooked 4-run bottom of the inning to knot the score at five.
In the seventh inning,
Ty Beck launched his final homer in a Mustang uniform to push The Master's in front, but a bases-clearing double from the Spirit gave them a 2-run cushion entering the final frame. But with the season on the line, Jenkins delivered again, lacing a 2-run single, which scored
Tommy Stanton and
Cole Rohlmeier to send the game to extra innings.
The Master's seized the upper hand in extras, with two sacrifice flies, one from
Scotty Pieper and one from
Isaiah Morales. But once again, OUAZ responded and rallied, as they had all afternoon. The Spirit put together a 3-run bottom of the tenth, featuring a sacrifice fly, an RBI single, and the walk-off coming off a TMU wild pitch.
Rohlmeier had three hits, including a double from his leadoff spot. Jenkins had two hits but also drove in four runs, while also drawing a walk and stealing a base. Morales also had two base hits.
Senior
Jace Russell tossed a scoreless frame with two strikeouts as well.
As TMU wraps up its 2026 campaign, head coach
Monte Brooks stands at 899 wins.
