Hector Martinez, an infielder from Mission Hills, Calif., has signed his national letter of intent to continue his baseball career at The Master's University.

A middle infielder with L.A. Valley College, Martinez hit .355 with 38 hits in 107 ABs this past season. He added eight doubles, two home runs with 29 runs scored and 21 RBI.

He spent two years at Valley College and will come to the Mustangs with three years of eligibility after redshirting his first season.

"Hector is going to be a big addition to our program," said Head Coach Monte Brooks. "He can play multiple positions, has the ability to hit to all fields with extra-base production, and he's an outstanding teammate and motivator. He loves the Scriptures and wants to grow in his relationship with Christ.

At Sylmar High School, Martinez was a 2nd Team All-CIF City Section selection as well as All-Valley Mission League. He hit .406 as a senior with the Spartans and led the team to an undefeated league title.

"I'm choosing Master's because I believe that God has placed me in this environment to grow closer to Him and to grow my faith," Martinez said. "The way He has worked in my life to bring me to this moment is no coincidence. I think it's all God. And so I'm just so grateful to be here for this opportunity."
