Box Score The Master's baseball team got a win in a game they had to continue from Jan. 24 before falling to the Westcliff Warriors 6-4 Tuesday in Whittier, Calif.
The 7-inning game from Jan. 24 had to be halted due to darkness going into the top of the seventh at Lou Herwaldt Stadium with the Mustangs leading 3-2. So Tuesday's scheduled game against the Warriors was the only chance to finish the game.
Jace Russell started the top of the seventh and gave up a lead-off base hit. After a sacrifice put the tying run at second, Russell was then able to get a called-third strike and a swinging strikeout to end the game.
The 3-2 win gave Master's their 22nd win of the season.
In the 9-inning game that followed, Westcliff scored four in the seventh inning to power past the Mustangs 6-4.
The Warriors scored a run in the bottom of the first and another in the bottom of the fourth.
The Master's answered the first run of the game in the top of the second when
Dylan Taguiam's groundout scored
Jack Drew to even the game at 1-1.
Then in the sixth and Westcliff up 2-1,
Emilio Morales cranked his seventh home run of the season to tie the game at 2-2.
After the Warriors big inning put them up 6-2, TMU mounted a comeback in the top of the eighth when
Ty Beck smashed his 12th home run of the season to also bring in
Cole Rohlmeier to cut the difference to two.
But that was all the Mustangs could muster as they fell to the Warriors.
Drew finished 2 for 4 on the day while Beck's two RBI topped the team.
The team will be off for Easter Week before hosting La Sierra in a pair of doubleheaders on Thursday and Friday April 9 & 10 at Lou Herwaldt Stadium. It will be the final home series of the season for the Mustangs, with Friday being Senior Day to honor the players participating in their final games at home.
