Box Score The Master's women's volleyball team jumped all over the Warriors from Jessup University to win the opening round of the GSAC Championship Tournament in three sets Thursday in San Dimas, Calif.

The No. 4-seed Lady Mustangs (18-11) hit .342 in the 25-14, 25-20, 25-14 win over No. 5 Jessup, out-blocking the Warriors 11-1 and taking the advantage in service aces 9-2. The team committed a season-low four hitting errors in the entire match.

"We had an amazing match," said TMU Head Coach Annett Davis. "The girls were zoned in and were there to compete and it showed. Our blocking was solid again."

TMU scored the first four points of the match and nine of the first 10, never letting the Warriors get closer than seven points on their way to the 25-14 first-set win.

That set the tone for the second set, which The Master's started with a lead before Jessup tied it at 3-3. That was as close as they would get as the Lady Mustangs led by as much as nine before taking the 25-20 set win.

The script stayed the same in the third, but the Warriors kept it closer. TMU led throughout, but when Jessup closed the gap to one at 13-12, the Lady Mustangs went on a 12-2 run to close out the set and win 25-14.

Ruby Duncan led The Master's with 10 kills and two service aces. Timberlie Miller also had two aces, giving both players 66 on the season, which is a program record.

"Serving is the first line of defense and ours gave them trouble," Davis said. "It was nice to see our team continue playing at such a high level."

Brooke Scott led the team with three aces, while McKenna Brady had a team-high four blocks and Sierra Hale led the team with 14 digs.

The Master's will next play No. 1-seed Vanguard in the semifinals on Mehl Court in San Dimas, Calif. First serve scheduled for 4 p.m.
