The Master's University women's golf team wrapped up play at the OUAZ Fall Invite, hosted by Ottawa University Arizona at Sterling Grove Golf & Country Club, finishing seventh in an eight-team field that also included Embry-Riddle (AZ), OUAZ's A and B squads, Bellevue, Victoria (BC), Arizona Christian and Soka (CA).
Embry-Riddle (AZ) claimed the team title at 28-over, powered by a second-round 286, with OUAZ taking second at 43-over. The Mustangs posted rounds of 363-363-356 across the 54-hole, par-72 event for a total of 1,082, trimming six strokes off their pace in the final round at the 6,188-yard course.
"I'm incredibly proud of how they battled out three with the wind and rain," TMU Head Coach Luke Brueckner said. "We have a lot of grit and I'm excited to see what we can do going forward."Â
Susan Tiffner was the steady hand for TMU all three days, carding rounds of 81-80-78 to finish 18th individually at 23-over 239 — the low score for the Mustangs in every round of the tournament. She was the only Mustang to finish inside the field's top 20.
Halle Hagberg served as TMU's second counting score, opening with a 92 before settling in with rounds of 82 and 83 to finish at 41-over 257. Noel Hernandez, Reece Benjamin and Sara Adams rounded out the Mustangs' lineup, each working through a challenging week on the course.
TMU will host the TMU Danish Classic next week on the Alisal Ranch Golf Course in Solvang, Calif.
