Halle Hagberg finished fifth individually and The Master's University women's golf team took second place at the TMU Danish Classic, hosted by the Mustangs at Alisal Ranch Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday.
The Lady Mustangs improved by six strokes from the first round to the second, posting a 351 on Tuesday that marked the team's lowest round of the fall season. The final-round score was five strokes better than TMU's best round at last week's OUAZ Fall Invite, continuing a steady climb for the Mustangs early in the season.
Hagberg led the way with matching rounds of 81 to finish at 162, earning a top-five finish and leading TMU in both rounds.
Susan Tiffner added a top-10 finish, tying for sixth at 169 (85-84). Tiffner, who led the Lady Mustangs at the OUAZ Fall Invite, improved in the final round for the second straight tournament.
Noel Hernandez posted the biggest round-to-round improvement on the team, cutting six strokes from her opening score to close with an 89 and finish 11th. Reece Benjamin and Sara Adams rounded out the lineup, finishing 13th and 14th.
Chapman University took the win, finishing with a total of 50 over on the two rounds.
The Lady Mustangs will travel to Seattle to play in the Battle at Bremerton hosted by OUAZ on October 26-27.Â
