LOMPOC, Calif. -- Hannah Ulibarri shot a 6-over 78 to win the 2026 GSAC Women's Golf Championship by four strokes Wednesday at the par-72 La Purisima Golf Club in Lompoc, Calif.
Ulibarri, who was announced as the conference's Women's Player of the Year earlier in the day, was emotional as she walked down the 18th fairway in her final conference championship.
"It was definitely a very interesting feeling to be honest," Ulibarri said. "I wasn't thinking about it being my last tournament very much just because I was so invested in each shot, because in golf you want to lock in for every single shot. But I did get a little feeling of nostalgia and a little bit of 'This is my last time of walking down a fairway on a golf team.' So it was a little bitter sweet, but ultimately I was just glad to finish and glad that I had a good opportunity to play well for the last round."
Ulibarri's collegiate career isn't over as she has qualified for the NAIA Women's Golf National Championships to be held next month in Ypsilanti, Mich.
The women's team finished comfortably in fourth, with Susan Tiffner shooting a final-round 81 to finish in 16th, Halle Hagberg came in 18th and Reece Benjamin completing the scoring in 28th.
"These conditions are so hard for the women," said Luke Brueckner, head coach of the TMU golf team. "It's such a tough test. But I am super proud of how hard they worked all week. There's no quit in those girls. They work their tail off every single day. I'm super stoked for Hannah and her GSAC win in her senior year and at a tough golf course. She didn't make many mistakes at all, battled a ton of adversity, a bad lie or a bad break, and it just didn't faze her at all. She just competes with joy and we are excited to go see her play at nationals."
The men's team entered the final round tied for third, but slipped back to fifth after a final round team score of 23-over 311.
Jacob Janho was the highest individual finisher for the team coming in 12th. The sophomore was also named All-GSACearlier in the day.
Wes Opliger finished in 20th and was also named All-GSAC. The junior shot a 5-over 77 in the final round, which nearly included a hole-in-one on the ninth.
"It was a tough event. The guys gave their best and that's all I asked of them," Coach Brueckner said. "You can tell, based on the scores, that they didn't quit at all. The fact that we had four rounds in the 70s, in these type of conditions, two days in a row is pretty solid. We just need to execute a little bit better, but this was not our time. Maybe next year."
Rye Winans fired the low round of the day for the Mustangs, a 4-over 76 that included three birdies in his final six holes. It was his final round as a Mustang.
"This course is brutal," Winans said. "I was just trying to stay patient the entire day and I was thankful to finish so strongly. And I'm just so thankful for what the school has done for me because I walked on my freshman year and the coach gave me a chance. That brought me here to the conference tournament and to finish well."
"I was so pumped for Rye to play well today," Coach Brueckner said. "He's been working really hard to contribute a lot to this team. He loves the guys and the guys love him, and so I am super pumped that he can finish off his senior year playing well and to compete well."
Senior
Seth Bishop carded a 7-over 79 in his final round at the GSAC Championships. Bishop is the only player on the men's team that has qualified for next month's NAIA National Championships in Silvis, Ill.
"Time went by fast and these four years have felt like nothing," Bishop said. "It's been a huge blessing to be here at Master's. The opportunity they've given me and everything Coach Luke and all of the coaches throughout the years have done for me. I'm not quite emotional yet as I have one more, but definitely felt it coming up on the last hole for sure."
"Seth has been the leader of this team," Brueckner said. "I think he's going to have a really good chance at nationals since he finished top 15 last year. Definitely disappointed that we can't bring everybody else, but he's stoked for that tournament and I can't wait to see him compete and play with the best."
