The Master's University men's golf team finished second and the women's team placed third at the TMU Spring Invite on Monday and Tuesday the La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc, Calif.

On a preview of the GSAC Championship course, Jacob Janho came in fifth to lead the men, while Hannah Ulibarri was five shots back of the leader in third place.

The Southern California Golfer's Association ranked La Purisima as the sixth-hardest public course in the state, with its narrow and hilly fairways.

The Master's men played two 18-hole rounds on the first day, and Janho had the lead after the first round as he was just one over par. Rye Winans, despite being +11 after the first round, shot an even 72 and finished T11 overall.

Other scorers for The Master's included Wes Opliger, who placed sixth overall in +18. Seth Bishop and Charles Pollock rounded out the scoring for TMU, as they both placed T9, with a +22.

"It was good to get this prep before conference," TMU Head Coach Luke Brueckner said. "I was impressed with their resilience, but we've got some things to sharpen up before GSAC."

For the women, Ulibarri led the Lady Mustangs, as she notched eight consecutive pars, but was closely followed by Susan Tiffner, who placed T5 in +22. Tiffner was in third place after the first day, and was just +9 over par.

Halle Hagberg finished in 16th and Reece Benjamin placed 21st to complete TMU's scoring.

TMU will compete next week at The Battle in Primm, Nev.
