TMU Men's XCTF duo
Daniel Rush and
Davis Boggess shared NAIA All-American honors last month in the men's 5,000 meters. Now the pair shares Academic All-America® honors as well.
Rush and Boggess were rewarded for their high athletic and academic achievement on Wednesday, being selected to the 10-man 2021-22 CoSIDA Academic All-America® NAIA Men's Track & Field / Cross Country First Team.
They are the eighth and ninth Mustangs ever to receive Academic All-America® recognition and the first two from the TMU Cross Country and Track & Field program. The duo previously earned Academic All-District® 4 honors back in May.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be a sophomore or older and be an integral member of their team by reaching certain participation thresholds, while posting at least a cumulative 3.30 GPA.
Voting is completed by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Voters consider athletic performance, academic achievement and community service when casting their ballots.
Both Rush and Boggess were major reasons why TMU Men's Cross Country set a new GSAC record for most-consecutive conference titles in any sport (12) this past fall.
The duo also helped TMU Men's Track & Field to its highest-ever finish at the GSAC Championships (second) and NAIA Outdoor Championships (eighth) this spring.
They have each been selected to the All-GSAC Cross Country Team and earned GSAC Scholar-Athlete honors every year eligible.
