The Master's University men's cross country team kicked off its 2026 campaign Saturday at the Mark Covert Classic, finishing fourth as a team with 92 points at Green River Golf Club, in Corona, Calif.
Senior Hunter Roy paced the Mustangs across the 8000m course in 25:28.1, leading a tight TMU pack that saw its top five finish within 36 seconds of one another. Roy closed his last mile in the 4:40s, moving up from the 30s into ninth place. Roy was followed closely by freshman Andrew Fastrup (25:31.6) and returning All-American Elijah Lovett (25:41.7), with Elijah Rojas (25:43.7) and Bauer Hollman (26:03.8) rounding out the scoring five.
The Mustangs averaged 25:42 as a team and clicked off a 5:11 mile pace over the 8K distance. TMU sat third through the opening mile and again at the 2000m split before shuffling back to fifth midway through the race, ultimately closing to fourth at the finish. TMU topped former GSAC rivals in BIOLA and Vanguard, while competing closely with top NCAA D-III program Pomona Pitzer.Â
Levi Lorenzana (26:08.6) and Isaiah Fastrup (26:42.4) also completed the top seven for the Mustangs.
Master's returns to action in two Saturdays at the UCR Invitational on September 19th.Â
