The Master's University men's cross country team finished 13th out of 25 teams Saturday at the 45th Annual UC Riverside Invitational, held at the UCR Ag Ops Course.
Southern Utah won the team title with 49 points, beating Pepperdine (97) and Cal Poly Pomona (103) in a stacked field that included several Big West and WAC programs. The Mustangs finished with 350 points over the 8K course. TMU finished in front of NCAA schools such as BIOLA, CSUN and UC Davis.
Andrew Fastrup paced TMU, crossing the line 29th overall in 24:16.8. It was a massive personal best for freshman from Arizona. All-American Hunter Roy was next across in another personal best of 24:48.6, good for 66th, followed by junior Elijah Lovett in 74th (24:53.1), who also smashed his personal record.
Sophomore Elijah Rojas rounded out the scoring five in 95th place (25:03.9), with junior Bauer Hollman completing the course in 118th place (25:16.4).
Senior Isaiah Fastrup (158th, 25:39.8) and freshman Levi Lorenzana (164th, 25:42.4) also competed for the Mustangs, finishing out the seven-man squad.
The field featured 25 teams and more than 200 finishers, giving the Mustangs a solid measuring stick early in the season.
Brad Sauer also ran a personal record in 25:24 to place 17th in the open section.
The Master's returns to action next month at the TMU Invitational on October 9 at Central Park in Santa Clarita, Calif.
