Teammates
Daniel Rush and
Davis Boggess have excelled in both cross country and track & field throughout their Mustang careers, all while maintaining excellence in the classroom.
The duo was recognized by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), being selected as part of the 10-person 2021-22 Academic All-District® 4 NAIA Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team.
To be nominated for the award, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore with a cumulative 3.30 GPA and be a key member of a team by hitting certain participation benchmarks.
Athletic performance, academic achievement and community service are all considered when voting takes place by CoSIDA members.
District 4 consists of four-year NAIA schools from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and Canada.
Rush (4.0 GPA), a junior, and Boggess (3.92 GPA), a senior, have both played significant roles in TMU Men's Cross Country's dominance within the Golden State Athletic Conference, helping the Mustangs break the GSAC record for most-consecutive titles in any sport (12).
They have each earned All-GSAC honors in cross country every year they've been at Master's.
Boggess is the back-to-back GSAC cross country individual champion, while Rush has won consecutive GSAC 5,000-meter titles.
Both runners became NAIA All-Americans at last week's NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the men's 5,000 meters, with Boggess finishing as runner-up and Rush placing fourth.
They have each earned GSAC and NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors every year eligible.
The Academic All-District® recipients will now advance to Academic All-America® consideration, with the Academic All-America® teams being announced on June 22.
