Lady Mustangs sweep Warriors in straight sets

The Master's University women's volleyball team improved to 6-5 overall and 2-1 in Great Southwest Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 win on the road Thursday night, winning by a score of 25-10, 25-12 and 25-12.

The Lady Mustangs were in control throughout, hitting .321 as a team and out-killing their opponent 35-11. TMU also finished with 12 service aces and 49 digs on the night.

Krista Brady led the way with nine kills, followed by Macy Gebhards with eight and Chloe Grever with seven. Grever added three service aces and three blocks, while Isabella Amet and McKenna Brady each chipped in three blocks as well. Setter Kate Wagner had a strong all-around performance, running the offense with 29 assists and contributing three blocks.

Defensively, Sierra Hale paced the Lady Mustangs with 15 digs, and Kinsley Kollmann added nine. Colette Collins was efficient from the service line, finishing with three aces, including the ace that closed out the match in set three.

TMU never trailed by more than a point in any set, opening set one with a 6-0 run, pulling away in set two behind a stretch of aces from Collins, and closing out set three cleanly to complete the sweep.

The Lady Mustangs held the Warriors to just a -.146 hitting percentage and forced 24 attack errors, while allowing just 11 kills for LPU. TMU dominated in every statistical category including points, kills, digs, blocks, assists and aces. 

The Lady Mustangs continue GSAC play on Saturday at home against Park Gilbert.
