Lady Mustangs outlasted in four-set rematch with Yotes

In a rematch with The College of Idaho, The Master's University women's volleyball team lost in four sets on Friday, in Nampa, Ida.

TMU just lost in four last week as well to College of Idaho, but the Yotes came out on fire and dominated the first set. With COI holding a 3-2 lead, the Yotes proceeded to go on a 9-0 run to seize control of the first set. TMU struggled offensively, as the College of Idaho would take the first set 25-7, holding TMU to a negative hitting percentage and hitting over .400 themselves.

Master's started much better in the second set, holding a 5-point lead at 8-3. The Yotes were able to close down the lead and tie the game at 14 all, and they closed out the set very strongly. They were able to finish the set on a 11-5 run, which put them firmly in the driver's seat, leading 2-0.

TMU was able to win the third set, which was very back and forth. The score was tied four times in the first half of the set, but the Yotes opened up another 5-point lead, with the score at 15-10.

The Lady Mustangs rallied, narrowing down the lead to just one point off a Chloe Grever kill and eventually tying the game at 20-20. A service ace from Kate Wagner gave TMU the lead at 23-22 and they were able to win the set off a COI attack error.

The final set was equally as close, with the score tied at 20 again, thanks to a block from Krista Brady and Grever. But COI scored the final three points to take the set and match win.

Macy Gebhards led the team with 16 kills and Grever chipped in 10. Brady and Grever had six total blocks each and Kate Wagner totaled 21 assists.

TMU will play Dickinson State at 4 p.m. later today.
