The Master's University women's soccer team dropped their 2026 home opener against No. 10 The College of Idaho by a score of 3-2 on Thursday in Santa Clarita, Calif.

The game was a rematch of the 2025 NAIA Championships in which the Yotes beat the Lady Mustangs in penalty kicks.

COI got on the board first with a goal in the 35th minute by Rylee Russell. TMU's keeper Katie Snow kept them in the game with six first-half saves.

The teams were dead even in terms of shots in the first half with seven each. However, all of the Yotes' shots were on goal, while TMU only recorded one.

The Lady Mustangs were able to respond with a goal just after halftime from Autumn Heeb, off a pass from Breanna Fajardo. It was Heeb's first goal of the season and as a Lady Mustang.

College of Idaho continued to ramp up the pressure, with 13 second-half shots, as well as seven corner kicks after the break. They were able to take the lead in the 63rd minute off the foot of Shaelyn Olsen, that just flew past the outstretched arms of Snow. 

Russell picked up her second goal of the game in the 83rd minute to give COI a comfortable lead. TMU didn't give in, as Fajardo scored her first goal of the year with just five seconds remaining, to make the final score 3-2. 

Fajardo led the team with three shots, two of which were on goal. Heeb had two shots on goal and Kegan Brunnemann had two shots as well. Snow totaled 13 saves on the game. 

TMU will be be back in action on Saturday, where they will be facing Occidental College at home on Reese Field at 5:00 p.m.
