Suzie Johnson placed ninth in the 1500m and
Brooke Cregan finished in 12th on Friday on the final day of the NAIA Track and Field Championships in Asheville, N.C.
Johnson, who qualified for the final in Wednesday's prelim, crossed the line with a time of 4:36.99, despite a quick early pace from the leaders. She was just one spot off her 12th All-American award.
"The final day was full of great racing and emotion as several athletes ran their final race as a Mustang," TMU Head Coach Daniel Rush said. "Suzie and Brooke ran raced tough to achieve their highest-ever individual track finishes."
The senior captain closes the book on an excellent career which has included 11 All-American awards, four national championships, and multiple school records across both track and field and cross country.Â
"It was a tactical race but the Lord allowed me to feel free all the way through the finish line," Johnson said. "Last race as a Mustang, but by the Lord's grace I was able to finish with my highest individual place at nationals."
Brooke Creagn also toed the line for her final race in a Lady Mustang uniform in the 3000m steeplechase. She notched a time of 11:21 and finished in 12th place. Cregan finished the week with two sub-11:30 performances to finish her 4-year career.
The Master's finished out a season in which all three of their nationals qualifiers,
Alyssa Lovett, Johnson and Cregan, have graduated.Â
