The Master's University baseball team split a pair with Park Gilbert at home, winning the first game 14-3 and losing the second 14-4, on Friday in Santa Clarita, Calif.
Carson Knapp got the start for the Mustangs in the first game, and TMU had the offense to support him. The Master's had two first-inning homers, one from
Isaiah Morales and one from
Jack Drew, to give Knapp a 3-0 cushion.Â
TMU continued to pile on the runs, as they scored four in the second inning, four in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth. The Buccaneers were forced to go to the bullpen for nine different pitchers over the course of the game.
"Our offense had really started to click over the last several games," TMU Head Coach
Monte Brooks said. "We're doing a great job of staying inside the baseball and driving it."
Knapp had another quality outing for TMU, going six innings, giving up three runs on four hits. He also struck out six opposing batters for his second win of the season.
Emilio Morales had two hits and scored four runs and
Cole Rohlmeier had two RBIs and two runs scored on two hits.
The second game was not as kind to the Mustangs as Park jumped on TMU in the first frame for four runs. Park was able to get a run off of every TMU pitcher that took the mound, and the Mustangs struggled in the field with six errors.
On offense,
Isaiah Morales crushed his second home run of the day in the first inning, as this one scored two runs.
Jack Drew had an RBI knock but Morales was the main source of offense for TMU, as he finished the second game going 3 for 4. The only other Mustang run that came across came from
Korbin Hodgson scoring on an error.
TMU will have two more game in the series against Park, with a pair of games on Saturday at home.Â
