The Master's University baseball team split two games with Park Gilbert at home on Saturday, losing the first game by a score of 17-11 and winning the second 11-5.
TMU got off to a hot start in the first game, as they built an 8-2 lead early. Although Park Gilbert scored the first two runs of the game, TMU responded immediately.
Cole Rohlmeier had a bases-clearing double to score three and back-to-back homers from
Isaiah Morales and
Emilio Morales had TMU up big in the second inning.
Korbin Hodgson added a sacrifice fly to give TMU an 8-2 lead.
In the fourth inning however, Park put up eight runs to take the lead and added another in the fifth, as they led 11-8 heading into the bottom of the ninth. The Master's got runners on for
Ty Beck who blasted a game-tying homer over the right field fence which sent the game into extra innings. Park was able to get six runs across in the top of the eleventh and that would be the nail in the coffin for the first of two games.
Ty Beck had three hits and four RBIs, while
Scotty Pieper chipped in three knocks as well.
Gage Webster got the start for TMU in the second game, and had a strong afternoon. He kept Park scoreless until the fifth inning and got some support from the Mustang bats as well.
Emilio Morales had another homer, this one driving in three runs. Pieper also got in on the action, crushing a solo shot of his own.
The Mustangs continued to pile on the runs with another homer from
Emilio Morales and more hits from
Isaiah Morales and Pieper. Rob York pitched two innings without giving up an earned run to close out TMU's eighth conference win of the season by a final score of 11-5.
Emilio Morales had five runs batted in, while Pieper had three more added to his total.
TMU will go on the road next week to take on Benedictine Mesa University in a GSAC series in Mesa, Ariz.
