TMU Head Coach
Jared Goldberg got his 100th win over the weekend as TMU swept Park Gilbert on Saturday in Gilbert, Ariz.Â
Isaac Seltzer led the way with 15 kills and
Andrew Karges had 11 as TMU hit .606 overall for the match.Â
Early in the first set, TMU ripped off a 9-2 run to maintain their advantage. They used another 8-1 run, including multiple blocks from
Ezra Vlad, to take their largest lead at 22-10. The Master's would take the first set by a score of 25-13.Â
The second set was rather back and forth in the early stages, with the Mustangs holding a slim lead at 9-7. But a 7-2 run, with two kills from Karges, put TMU in position to take the second set as well. The two squads traded points until two kills from Vlad put TMU in the driver's seat, up 2-0.Â
With the final set score tied at 3-3, The Master's used a 4-0 run to take the lead and then a 10-1 run put any thought of a Park comeback out of reach. The Mustang middles continued to dominate, as they forced the Buccaneers into 13 attack errors and only 20 kills. By comparison, TMU had just four errors and 47 kills. The Master's took the final set by a score of 25-11.Â
It was Coach Goldberg's 100th win as a head coach as the Mustangs look to repeat as NAIA Champions.Â
The Master's will return home to take on La Sierra on Thursday in The MacArthur Center.
