TMU improves to 11-0 behind Seltzer's 14 kills

Isaac Seltzer had 14 kills as The Master's University men's volleyball team beat Benedictine Mesa in straight sets on Friday in Mesa, Ariz.

TMU improved to 11-0 on the season and 4-0 in GSAC play as they won 25-22, 25-15, 25-17. The Mustang offense was on fire, as they hit .536 overall for the match.

Despite losing the first three points of the game, TMU rattled off a 7-1 run to take an 8-6 lead. BenU wouldn't go quietly though, as they fought back to take the lead on a 6-1 run of their own. The Redhawks had the lead at 20-19 late in the set, but TMU fought to tie it at 22 all. The Master's ended the set on a 3-0 run, capped by one of Andrew Karges' 11 kills.

The Master's continued to pour it on, building leads such as 7-2 and 13-6. BenU tried to respond with a 4-0 run, but TMU closed out the set on an 8-2 span, in which they forced the Redhawks in to multiple attack errors to take firm control.

The final set started close, with the score tied at 4-4 and 11-11. After this point though, TMU got back into their groove, outscoring the Redhawks by a score of 14-6 in the rest of the frame. The score was tied at 11, but TMU rattled off four straight to take control. The Master's then scored four in a row again later in the set, capped by another Karges kill. He got the final kill to close out an incredibly efficient night, in which he had 11 kills and 11 attack attempts, hitting 1.000. 

"Really strong offensively tonight and we put a lot of service pressure on them as well," TMU Head Coach Jared Goldberg said. "We are still working on getting off to a quicker start, but overall I was please with how we competed."

The Master's will stay on the road an take on Park Gilbert tomorrow in Gilbert, Ariz.
