Master's baseball earns series-opening win over ERAU

Carson Knapp pitched an efficient eight innings, giving up only one run as The Master's University topped Embry-Riddle on Thursday by a score of 4-1.

"Knapp was unbelievable," TMU Head Coach Monte Brooks said. "He had great endurance. We executed well around him early and now he's had two great outings in a row now."

Knapp gave up only four hits and threw 113 total pitches on the afternoon to set Kolby Jensen up for the save opportunity, which he cashed in on.

Cole Rohlmeier got the scoring started for The Master's as he scored on a wild pitch, after getting aboard via a hit by pitch. TMU plated another run as an error by the Eagles defense on an Emilio Morales fly ball allowed Zach Jenkins to come home.

Those two runs would be all Knapp would need as he continued to induce weak contact from the ERAU batters. The only run the Eagles would get would be unearned off an error from The Master's.

Dylan Tagium got in on the action, as his RBI groundout got the Mustangs up by a score of 3-0. Then Ty Beck knocked in his team-leading 27th RBI to give The Master's a 4-run lead.

Knapp gave way to Jensen, who walked the first two batters that he faced. However, thanks to a lineout straight to Isaiah Morales, TMU was able to double up the Eagles and sealed the game on a weak grounder.

TMU improves to 13-14 on the season and 3-6 in GSAC play. They will face the Eagles twice on Friday, with the first game starting at 11 a.m. and the second starting 30 minutes after the finish of the first game.
