The Master's women's basketball team will be heading to Langston, Okla. next week for the Opening Rounds of the NAIA Women's Basketball National Tournament.
The Mustangs' men's team already knew they would be hosting the Openings Rounds in The MacArthur Center beginning on Friday, March 14.
The Lady Mustangs will be the No. 12 seed of the 16 teams in the Naismith Quadrant and will open against No. 5 Dakota Wesleyan in the second game next Friday (time TBA). The other Opening Round game features No. 4 Langston (OK) against No. 13 Blue Mountain Christian (OK).
"It will be exciting," said TMU Head Coach Fonda Wilson. "Advancing to nationals is a big accomplishment, and while the road ahead may be challenging, it's also an opportunity to grow, push our limits, and showcase all the hard work the girls have put in. Every tough game is a chance to rise to the occasion, trust in our preparation, and play with heart while honoring Christ. "
The men's team is the No. 3 seed in the Duer Quadrant and will square off against No. 14 Dakota Wesleyan (yes, both teams will be playing Dakota Wesleyan) at 7:30 p.m. That game will be preceded by No. 6 Montana Tech taking on No. 11 Southern Oregon at 5 p.m.
"I think [Dakota Wesleyan] is going to be a tough opponent," said TMU Head Coach Kelvin Starr. "Any team that has 20-plus wins at this time of the season is going to be a formidable team. I'm just excited we get to host a national tournament game. Our guys deserve another chance to play in front of our fans and we are going to see what we can do to make another run at this thing."
