Box Score The Master's men's volleyball team stayed undefeated on the season with a 25-17, 25-11, 25-12 win over the Simpson Redhawks Wednesday night in The MacArthur Center.
The No. 1-ranked Mustangs (6-0) hit .359 for the match with the advantage in kills (36-13), blocks (9-1)and service aces (5-2).
But perhaps most importantly, all 14 able-bodied players were able to get in and contribute to the win.
"We got a lot of our guys in tonight and they played well," said TMU Head Coach
Jared Goldberg. "Our starters broke out leads in each one of the sets and that gave us the ability to play most of the guys on our roster."
TMU's strong serve kept Simpson out of system most of the match, limiting the team from Redding, Calif. to a -.167 hitting percentage. The Redhawks had 13 kills but committed 26 hitting errors on their 78 total attacks to generate the negative hitting number.
Braden Van Groningen paced the Mustangs with seven kills in limited action, with
Trace Oswald getting five and four each for
Carston Saelzler and
Isaac Igo.
Bryce Jones dished 14 assists with
Isaac Laing adding nine. Both Saelzler and
Ezra Vlad finished with four blocks on the night.
The Master's will be back in The MacArthur Center Saturday for a matinee when they host the UC Merced Bobcats, a team receiving votes on the NAIA Top 15 poll this week. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
