Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Dave Caldwell, Sports Information Director

TMU drops second game of season

With tough competition the goal of the early season, The Master's men's soccer team lost a 2-0 non-conference game to the Oregon Tech Owls Thursday in a game played under the lights at College of the Canyons.

The game was moved from Reese Field due to the 113-degree temperatures the team would have endured had the game been played at its original 2:30 in the afternoon.

Instead the team had a temperature just under 100 at game time.

The match was even, with both teams getting 10 shots. The Owls finished with eight on goal while the Mustangs placed five between the pipes.

The difference maker came early when Bridger Meyer found the back of the net off a pass from Wolfgang Alvarado in the 10th minute of the game to give OTI the 1-0 lead.

"We did a lot of good things this game and were unfortunate to not score," said Head Coach Jim Rickard. "We showed a lot of passion and fight, but the early goal really set us back. We also gave up too many corner kicks and that cost us as well. I was proud of the way we went after them in the second half."

Then a little over six minutes into the second half, Ben Bradshaw scored, with assists from both Kevin Rodriguez and Cash Cota, to put the Owls up 2-0.

Prince Chingancheke, Trent Rickard and M.K.Oredi each had two shots. Julian Graham finished with six saves.

The Master's will be back on the pitch this Saturday when they travel to Irvine, Calif. to take on Concordia University. Game time has been moved to 6:30 p.m. to avoid another 100-plus degree day.
