Behind 13 kills each from
Diego Perez and
Isaac Seltzer, The Master's men's volleyball team defeated No. 4 OUAZ 25-16, 21-25, 25-20, 27-25 Friday night in Surprise, Ariz.
The Mustangs (14-2, 3-1) hit .430 for the match, collecting 55 kills in 107 total attacks while committing just nine hitting errors.
Patrick Paragas dished 43 assists in the four-set win.
"The team did a great job coming prepared and ready to compete tonight," said TMU Head Coach
Jared Goldberg. "Our offense was really efficient and the best way to describe
Patrick Paragas's night was that he really just played like a quarterback. Their corners had a hard time with the 1-on-1's against our wide receivers and we were able to score and finish on the tight sets."
The match was tight, with TMU getting the advantage in kills (55-53) and blocks (6-2), but OUAZ gaining the advantage with aces (7-6) and digs (34-30).
Avera led the team with three aces, while
Braden Van Groningen added 11 kills and two solo blocks.
The Master's will finish off their three Arizona matches in three days on Saturday when they take on the Firestorm of Arizona Christian. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. PT.
