An own goal turned out to be the difference in the game as The Master's women's soccer team defeated Park-Gilbert 1-0 Thursday night in Mesa, Ariz.
The goal came nearly 14 minutes into the second half when
Lauren Park beat several defenders down the goal line. She then sent a cross in front of the goal, only to hae the ball go off one of the Buccaneer defenders and into the goal.
"Defensively we played solid," said TMU Head Coach Esteban Chavez. "Offensively we didn't create many scoring opportunities and didn't take enough shots on goal."
The Mustangs finished with 12 shots on goal to the Buccaneers nine with five of those 12 shots being on goal.
Grace LaCroix started in goal for TMU, finishing with four saves. It was the second consecutive shutout for the freshman.
The Master's will play Benedictine-Mesa Saturday morning at 9 a.m. in a match that will be played at Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Chandler, Ariz.
