Box Score On Saturday, No. 5 The Master's men's volleyball team only needed three sets to get past No. 14 Lourdes University 25-16, 25-19, 25-20 in the final match of the season-opening Chicago Tournament.
The Mustangs (3-0)Â hit a blistering .446 as a team while limiting the Gray Wolves to .101. TMU led in total kills (39-24), assists (36-22) and service aces (7-3).
"The team took care of business and it's great to start the season off beating three ranked teams," said TMU Head Coach
Jared Goldberg.
The only time Lourdes led was early in the third set. With the score 4-3, The Master's scored the next six out of seven points to regain control and finish off the match with a five-point set win.
Both
Cole Oliver and
Diego Perez had a team-high eight kills, with
Mason Mullins collecting seven and both
Braden Van Groningen and
Will Avera adding six.
Patrick Paragas had 33 assists (11 per set), with Mullins adding a team-high two blocks.
The Master's will next travel to Arizona for two matches against two of the best in the nation. Friday they will face No. 3 Park (MO) University at 7 p.m. PT, and Saturday it will be No. 2 Benedictine-Mesa at 1 p.m. PT
"Now we are on to prepare for another very challenging weekend in Phoenix against the No. 2 and No. 3 ranked teams in the country," Goldberg said.
