Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Dave Caldwell, Sports Information Director

Two braces, one win for TMU

Sinclair Francescon and Malia Wright each scored a pair of goals as The Master's women's soccer team shutout Life Pacific 6-0 Thursday in the opening game of conference play.

The Mustangs (6-2-1, 1-0 GSAC) dominated the game, taking 22 shots (15 on goal) compared to the Warriors two.

"Great start to conference play," said Head Coach Esteban Chavez. "To be able to score multiple goals was great, having three goals in each half showed consistency of play, and to have multiple scorers proves we have multiple threats."

Francescon got the scoring started in the 16th minute of the game after a corner kick by Ellie Radmilovich found its way in front of the net. Hannah Burke flipped it to Francescon who tapped it in for the score.

That rocketed the team's confidence as two more shots found the back of the net before the end of the first half to send the Lady Mustangs into the locker room with a 3-0 lead.

After 23 minutes elapsed in the second half, Mary Mobley lit up the scoreboard with her first goal of the season, and once again the confidence took off. Less than eight minutes later, Francescon tickled the twine for her second of the game, and just 37 seconds later, it was Malia Wright getting her second of the game to finish off the scoring. For Wright, the two goals were the first of her collegiate career.

"It was great to see Malia score because she works so hard in practice," Chavez said. "For her to come in and to show us she's another player who can come in and score for us is huge."

Hannah Burke picked up her third goal of the season in the first half and also added two assists. The senior from Gilbert, Ariz. now has 12 goals and 14 assists (tied for 6th all-time) in her career at The Master's.

"It seems like she always has a hand on the goals, by assists, scoring, or by setting someone up," Chavez said. "And she is so versatile, being able to play multiple positions on the attack. She is hard to defend."

TMU goalkeeper Autumn Jensen, who was named GSAC Defender of the Week back on Sep. 11, picked up her fourth shutout of the season. The All-GSAC net tender from last season now has nine clean sheets in the last two seasons.

The Master's next host the Jessup Warriors at Reese Field on Thursday, Oct. 5. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
