TMU Women's Volleyball Head Coach Annett Davis knew her team needed to win one of the two remaining matches this weekend to secure a spot in the GSAC Championship Tournament.
Mission accomplished.
TMU defeated the Jessup University Warriors in three sets (25-18, 25-19, 25-15) Friday to guarantee themselves a spot in the post-season.
The Lady Mustangs (16-11, 6-7 GSAC) came into the match tied for 5th in the GSAC standings, knowing that if they take care of business and get a win, they are in the six-team tournament.
"It's nice to have done that tonight and not have to depend on someone else's results," Davis said. "I'm glad that we earned it."
The team hit .233 for the match and took the advantage in kills (31-29), blocks (7-2) and aces (8-3). At no point did the Warriors ever have a lead in a set.

"We just looked confident," Davis said. "I don't know of another match where we looked as confident as this. The hitters were fearless tonight taking big swings."
The Master's block was impenetrable. Officially credited with seven blocks, the Warriors offense was consistently hitting into the Lady Mustangs' defenders at the net and having to reset continuously.
"What a good block does is it creates hitting errors," Davis said. "It makes the hitter think twice, and for us, because of the blocking, it was a good thing for us."
The Warriors finished with a .030 hitting percentage, committing 26 errors while collecting 29 kills.
Ruby Duncan had a game-high 12 kills and also added three more service aces.
Timberlie Miller had 26 assists and added a pair of aces herself. Miller now has 62 aces followed by Duncan with 61. Both are TMU program records.
