It was a tough way to end the Florida road trip as The Master's women's soccer team lost 6-0 to Keiser University, one of the best teams in the country.
Â
The Seahawks, ranked 6
th in the NAIA pre-season poll, scored three goals in the first half and three in the second giving the Lady Mustangs their third loss of the season.
Â
"We still created a couple of quality chances in the first half," said Head Coach
Curtis Lewis. "Twice we were able to break out behind their defense but not able to get a good shot."
Â
One of the goals of this Florida trip was to play quality national opponents in an atmosphere that would emulate the national tournament. The lessons learned, though difficult, are part of the process.
Â
"The biggest thing we have to do is right the ship and get them ready for Saturday," Lewis said. "We aren't going to face a team like that for a bit. We proved we can play with the better teams in the nation, but maybe not the top 10. Keiser is a very, very strong and offensively potent team. They could easily be in the top four.
Â
"Now we have to take each game in front of us and see if we can grow, and if we can do that consistently we will improve."
Â
TMU next plays at home this Saturday against the University of Antelope Valley. And with the week of practice in front of them, Coach Lewis knows one thing for sure is true about his team.
Â
"No one will ever question our work ethic. We have a team that is willing to work hard. What we now have to get to is the wisdom that comes with that hard work."
