In many ways, it feels as though
Brooke Cregan has been a Mustang for several years already. Cross Country coaches Zach and
Amie Schroeder remember meeting Brooke and taking her out for pizza in Santa Rosa when she was just a freshman in high school. Since then, they have been anticipating the day she officially joins their team.
"I am so thrilled to finally be starting the journey of coaching
Brooke Cregan,"
Zach Schroeder said. "Running has been such an important part of her life, and I have no doubt that her best athletics will occur here at TMU. Brooke is going to make an immediate impact on our women's team."
Being a Mustang has been a long-time ambition of Brooke as well: "Running on the Master's cross country team has been a dream of mine since sophomore year. I knew it was a team I wanted to be a part of."
"I decided to come to TMU because I love how Christ is the central focus at Master's," she added, "And I can learn while growing in my faith with those around me that have the same goal."
Coach Schroeder is confident that Brooke's experience at TMU will prove to do just that: "I really believe she will grow spiritually here at Master's, which is something I can't be more excited about."
A passionate runner who "hails from the decorated program of Maria Carrillo High School" in Santa Rosa (Coach Schroeder), Cregan looks forward to an exciting four years at TMU. Her high school XC team placed third twice at North Coast Sectionals, and finished in seventh place at the California State meet for Division III. She also came in fifth at the North Bay League Finals in cross country. Now she joins a women's distance program that looks to defend their back-to-back conference title.
Brooke has set very clear goals for herself, "I would love to get under 18:30 in the 5K and go to Nationals one day, but my main goal is to glorify God through the sport."
