Mustangs gear up for nationals at APU Last Chance Invite

TMU Track & Field competed at the APU Last Chance Invite on Friday and Saturday in its final tune-up meet for the upcoming NAIA National Championships.
 
Hannah Fredericks appears to be peaking at the right time, after she ran times that rank in the top-seven of the NAIA in two events. She ran 4:25.83 in the women's 1500 meters, the second-fastest time in the NAIA this season, to place sixth out of 56 athletes. She also posted a mark of 2:12.18 in the women's 800 meters, the NAIA's seventh-fastest time in the event.
 
Also in the women's 800 meters, Ellen Palmgren ran 2:10.73, which ranks third nationally this spring.
 
Anthony Ghiorso hit NAIA 'A' standard times in two events – men's 800 meters (1:52.30) and men's 1500 meters (3:51.87). Teammate Zach Garey posted a 'B' standard of 3:55.48 in the men's 1500 meters.
 
Arianna Ghiorso ran a 'B' standard time in the women's 1500 meters (4:37.58), just .08 seconds off an 'A' standard. Seanna Nalbandyan posted a 'B' standard mark in the women's 400-meter hurdles (1:04.53).
 
Caleb Pouliot, who already previously qualified for nationals in the men's pole vault, finished fourth out of 14 in the event with a best mark of 4.70 meters.
 
Davis Boggess (14:24.93) and Wesley Methum (14:34.41) ran 'A' standards in the men's 5,000 meters, a race in which they had previously qualified for nationals in.
 
Mustangs who qualified for the NAIA National Championships will compete May 25-27 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
