Long, Filos pitch complete game victories against San Diego Christian

Spencer Long and Zachary Filos each pitched complete game victories, leading TMU Baseball to a Golden State Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep of San Diego Christian on Friday inside Lou Herwaldt Stadium.

Long pitched nine innings of one-run ball in game one, a 4-1 Master's win, to go along with five strikeouts. Filos followed him up with a seven-inning complete game in the second matchup of the day, a 3-2 Mustang victory, while also striking out five batters.

Will Batz led off the bottom of the first of the opening game with a single, before advancing to second on a groundout. He then stole third and scored on Evan Banks' RBI-grounder.

Banks then added to TMU's lead in the fifth with a run-scoring single, scoring Batz once again, this time after the center fielder led the inning off with a double. Cason Brownell's RBI-single added a second run in the inning, before his sacrifice fly in the seventh rounded out the scoring.

In the second game, Austin Young's three-run blast in the third gave Filos all the run support that he needed.

Master's (25-17, 12-14 GSAC) concludes its series with San Diego Christian on Saturday with a doubleheader set to begin at 11 a.m.
