Mustangs complete sweep of Hawks

TMU Baseball completed a series sweep of San Diego Christian on Saturday with a pair of victories inside Lou Herwaldt Stadium, 12-8 and 9-8.
 
Miles Henderson's double and Cason Brownell's single got the Mustangs on the board in the bottom of the first in the opening game of the day, which Master's scored the first nine runs of.
 
TMU scored three runs in the fourth, with Tommy Gwinn advancing to home on a balk before an RBI-single from Austin Young and run-scoring double from Evan Banks added two more.
 
One more crossed home plate for the Mustangs in the fifth on Joe Terlizzi's infield single, before three more runs were added in the sixth – two from Evan Banks' homer and one on Corny Miller's single.
 
The visiting Hawks then made it a game after scoring seven in the top of the seventh, getting to within two. Master's got a pair back in the bottom half though on Henderson's two-run homer. Tommy Gwinn's solo blast an inning later, the first of his college career, rounded out TMU's scoring in the victory.
 
San Diego Christian took an immediate two-run lead in the top of the first of game two, with Nolan Inouye's walk in the bottom of the inning cutting the Hawks' lead in half. After the visitors scored two more in the top of the third to extend their lead to three, the Mustangs tied the contest on an Inouye RBI-single and Will Batz two-RBI base hit later in the inning.
 
The Hawks retook their advantage once more in the top of the fourth and appeared set to spoil TMU's attempt at a sweep, only for Master's to score five runs in the bottom of the fifth.
 
Batz and Banks each hit two-RBI singles before Brownell's run-scoring infield hit scored what proved to be the ninth and winning run.
 
Master's (27-17 overall, 14-14 GSAC) play Bethesda University on Wednesday, starting at noon, on Senior Day. The two teams will first finish a continued game from March 19 before beginning a doubleheader.
