TMU Men's Basketball had its three-game winning streak come to a crashing halt on Thursday night in a 54-80 road defeat against No. 17 Hope International University.
"Twenty-five turnovers and 6-for-26 from 3 won't win you a game in any gym," Master's Head Coach
Kelvin Starr said.
TMU started brightly, leading for much of the opening eight minutes, before the Royals began to pull away and take a nine-point lead into halftime.
Hope International then held Master's to just 30.4% shooting overall and 20.0% from 3-point range in the second half, with HIU outscoring TMU by 17 points after halftime to win by 26.
Jordan Starr (three triples) and
DJ Wilson (two 3-pointers) each made multiple shots from behind the arc, but the rest of the team combined to shoot 1-for-12 from deep.
Starr (11 points, five rebounds) and Wilson (12 points) were the only two Mustangs to score in double figures.
Besides limiting TMU offensively, Hope dominated in points in the paint (44-4) and converted 25 Mustang turnovers into a 34-4 margin in points off turnovers.
Master's (15-8 overall, 5-8 GSAC) will look to bounce back on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. when TMU plays San Diego Christian at home inside The MacArthur Center.
