Evan Banks has been TMU Baseball's most consistent bat this season.
He came up clutch again on Saturday with some big hits to propel the Mustangs to a doubleheader sweep of Antelope Valley, by scores of 6-1 and 8-7.
In game one, Banks' two-run shot to right broke open the contest before he knocked in the winning runs with a two-RBI double in the bottom of the sixth in game two.
Following a scoreless first five innings of the first game, TMU answered a run by UAV in the top of the sixth by scoring five in the bottom half, all with two outs.
Cason Brownell's RBI-single tied the game before a two-RBI double from
Will Batz gave the Mustangs their first lead of the day.
Banks' two-run shot to right then gave Master's valuable insurance runs and closed out the Mustangs' five-run inning.
Benjamin Johnson singled in another TMU run in the bottom of the seventh, but that was more than enough for a Master's pitching staff of
Chase Farrell (two scoreless innings pitched),
Zachary Jimenez (four innings pitched, one run, two strikeouts) and
Kameron Quitno (three scoreless innings, five strikeouts) that allowed only one run.
In the second game, Master's scored twice in the first inning, as
Will Batz crossed home plate on a wild pitch and
Kobe Katayama scored one on an RBI-groundout.
After UAV scored six unanswered runs, TMU scored four in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game, 6-6. Batz' RBI-single got one back for the Mustangs before
Miles Henderson cleared the bases with a double to right.
The Pioneers re-took their lead in the top of the sixth, before Banks scored the winning runs with his two-RBI double in the bottom half.
Quitno was summoned out of the bullpen once again, recording the final out of the top of the sixth before pitching a scoreless seventh to earn the win.
With Saturday's doubleheader sweep, Master's won the three-game series, two-games-to-one.
TMU (10-3 overall) is now set to begin Golden State Athletic Conference play on Friday, with a home doubleheader scheduled against Arizona Christian University beginning at 11 a.m.
