TMU Baseball split with Arizona Christian University on the opening day of the Golden State Athletic Conference season, dropping the first game 4-13 before winning the second one 5-1.

Nelson Schutte put together a quality start in game one, throwing four shutout innings to start the contest before exiting after five innings of work with two runs conceded.

With the game tied 2-2, ACU scored five in the top of the sixth to regain its lead. The Mustangs then got two back in the bottom of the eighth, on RBI-doubles from
Corny Miller and
Cason Brownell, to get to within three.

However, the Firestorm scored six in the top of the ninth, putting the game out of reach.

Zachary Filos then dominated on the hill for Master's in game two, pitching six innings and striking out six, while only giving up one run in his final inning of work.

Miles Henderson opened the scoring with a solo home run in the bottom of the second.

With the Mustangs leading 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth,
Benjamin Johnson's RBI-single scored two to add some valuable insurance runs entering the seventh and final inning.

Kameron Quitno came on in relief to earn his third save of the season with a scoreless seventh inning.

Cason Brownell recorded five hits on the day, three in the first game and another two in the second.

Master's (11-4 overall, 1-1 GSAC) and Arizona Christian (11-5 overall, 1-1 GSAC) return to Lou Herwaldt Stadium on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
