Going into Friday's road match against Hope International, Master's was in seventh place needing wins to get into the top six and the GSAC post-season tournament.
Count the win.Â
Faith Tarver had 18 kills and Jessi Swenning added 12 kills to lead the Lady Mustangs to a four-set victory (25-20, 19-25, 25-16, 25-18) over the Royals in Fullerton.
After each team grabbed a set win, the third set was close with the Royals clinging to an 11-10 lead. That's when the Master's went on a 14-6 run to close out the set and take a 2 to 1 lead.
The fourth set had a similar start with Masters's holding on to slim leads until an HIU kill tied it at 15. But like the third set, the Lady Mustangs closed out the set on a 10-3 run to win the match.Â
Master's hit .222 in the match and finished with 57 totals kills with HIU mustering just 34.Â
Natalie Collins finished with 34 assists and
Karli Stults lead the team with 23 digs.
Master's returns home for the final three matches of the regular season beginning Saturday when the Life Pacific Warriors come to The MacArthur Center for a 2 p.m. start. Watch the livestream at www.gomustangs.com/watch.
