Aidan Rohde put TMU Men's Soccer ahead just 6:15 into the game, but Ottawa University Arizona scored three unanswered goals to defeat Master's, 3-1, on Thursday afternoon in Golden State Athletic Conference action.
Â
"We worked hard and gave everything we had on a tough back-to-back trip," Master's head coach
Jim Rickard said. "We scored first which was nice."
Â
TMU got off to a flying start in the seventh minute, with Rohde finding the back of the net for the first time in a Master's uniform, off an assist from
Giorgio Martino.
Â
However, the Mustangs were only able to hold their lead for 22 minutes, as the Spirit equalized in the 29th.
Â
Just over two minutes after conceding, Rohde forced a save from the OUAZ goalkeeper before the home side took the lead with a penalty kick in the 37th.
Â
Jesus Torres' shot was saved early in the second half, but the Spirit tacked on another one in the 61st. The Mustangs were denied again in the 83rd when
Theo Kudlo's shot was stopped, as TMU was unable to catch up to OUAZ (4-1 overall, 2-0 GSAC).
Â
The Spirit narrowly held a 6-5 advantage over the Mustangs in shots on goal for the game.
Â
Master's (1-4-1, 0-3) returns to conference play on Tuesday at Life Pacific. Kick-off is scheduled for 9 a.m. at San Dimas Sportsplex.
