TMU equalizes briefly before falling to No. 21 Westmont

TMU Women's Soccer fought back to equalize against No. 21 Westmont College on the road, but the Warriors responded with a goal just a few minutes later to prevail over the Mustangs by a score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

Westmont scored a goal in the 13th minute of play, capitalizing on an 8-2 advantage in shots in the opening 45 minutes. After the Warriors took a 1-0 lead into the break, the shot totals evened out in the second half, 4-4.

Master's found an equalizer in the 77th minute, courtesy of Hannah Cumming's first collegiate goal. Kayla Monick provided the assist to tie the match, only for the home side to have the last laugh by scoring the game-winner in the 79th minute.

After beginning the season unbeaten in its first nine games, TMU (6-2-3 overall, 2-2 GSAC) has now lost two-straight contests. It's the first time the Mustangs have conceded multiple goals in consecutive games this season.

Master's returns to Reese Field on Thursday for a conference match against Ottawa University Arizona, who is receiving votes in the latest NAIA Coaches' Poll. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
