It only makes sense that an unusual season like 2020 would possess its fair share of quirks. And one such oddity revealed itself Wednesday in Phoenix where The Master's University men's basketball team faced SAGU American Indian College for the second time in 24 hours.

The No. 19-ranked Mustangs made it two wins in as many tries with an 81-79 victory behind Jordan Starr's all-around strong showing and the second double-double of Kaleb Lowery's young career.

Starr scored 17 points to go with six rebounds and eight assists. Lowery, a freshman, had 14 points and 10 rebounds, helping the Mustangs start the season 4-0 for the second year in a row.

Johnny McWilliams co-led TMU with 17 points, cooling off if only a little from his torrid effort on the opening night of this three-game swing through Arizona.

McWilliams buried eight three-pointers on his way to 37 points Tuesday, leading the Mustangs to a comeback win after they trailed by four at the break.

Master's didn't need a late surge Wednesday, thanks in part to Jay Turley's solid play off the bench. The sophomore guard contributed 10 points and six rebounds, reaching double figures in scoring for the second time this season. Turley scored a career-high 17 points in TMU's home opener on Dec. 5.

Wednesday, Thomas Lowery scored four points with seven rebounds for the Mustangs, who are scheduled to play Benedictine Mesa on Friday at Arizona Christian University in Glendale. Tip-off is at 2 p.m. PST, with live stats available at GoMustangs.com
