Idaho state champion Arianna Ghiorso chooses Master's
Arianna Ghiorso –  described by her future coach as a dream athlete – says she woke up one morning this year and knew Master's was where she needed to be.
"I think it was totally the Lord changing my heart," Ghiorso said.
Ghiorso also knew she loved the coaches and that she'd be joining a strong team. TMU's women's cross country program is coming off its first-ever Golden State Athletic Conference title. Head coach
Zach Schroeder and his wife, Amie, an assistant coach, knew the addition of an Idaho state champion would help build on that momentum.
"My wife and I have spent much time in prayer for Arianna, and we are so thankful to the Lord for directing her steps to Master's," Schroeder said. "As a coaching staff, my wife and I are eager to invest in this future leader and help her achieve her absolute best. Arianna is a coach's dream athlete, and we are blessed that the Lord has called her to be a Mustang."
At Rocky Mountain High in Meridian, Idaho, Ghiorso's 4x800-meter relay won Idaho state titles in 2016 and 2018. In cross country, she finished 19th at the state cross country championships in division 5A as a junior. Still, Ghiorso aims higher.
She said she hopes to reach her full potential at Master's. "The coaches will be great for helping me do that," she said. "I'm excited to be part of their training."
How excited?
"I'm super, super stoked," Ghiorso said. "I have been looking forward to entering this new chapter, having a college team, getting to know everyone. It's that family feel that I love."
