Jared Goldberg enters his sixth season as head coach of The Master’s University men’s volleyball team in 2025–26.

The Mustangs are coming off a historic 2025 campaign, winning the NAIA Men’s Volleyball National Championship with a perfect 27–0 record. The undefeated season included a 5–0 mark against MPSF opponents and a marquee NCAA victory over No. 8 Stanford. TMU also earned a host of individual accolades, including:

  • AVCA NAIA National Player of the Year – Braden Van Groningen
  • AVCA NAIA National Newcomer of the Year – Max McCullough
  • 5 AVCA All-Americans (2 First Team, 2 Second Team, 1 Honorable Mention)
  • 6 All-GSAC selections
  • 4 NAIA All-Americans (2 First Team, 2 Third Team)

In 2024, the program notched several more firsts: wins over NCAA top-20 opponents No. 8 Pepperdine and No. 16 CSUN, GSAC regular season and tournament titles, and four separate appearances as the No. 1-ranked team in the NAIA. Individually, the Mustangs swept major awards:

  • AVCA and NAIA Coach of the Year – Jared Goldberg
  • NAIA Player & Newcomer of the Year – Patrick Paragas
  • 7 All-GSAC selections (all starters)
  • 6 AVCA All-Americans (2 First Team, 4 Second Team)
  • 6 NAIA All-Americans (1 First Team, 4 Second Team, 1 Third Team)

In 2023, Goldberg guided TMU to the NAIA National Semifinals and was named NAIA Coach of the Year. That season featured freshman outside hitter Nolan Flexen earning both NAIA Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year honors.

Goldberg also coached Diego Perez to his second consecutive All-American season, led the program to its first GSAC Championship, and placed Flexen, Perez, and Will Avera on the All-GSAC team.

In 2022, Goldberg orchestrated a dramatic turnaround, taking the program from a 2–8 record in 2021 to its first winning season at 14–10. That year, the Mustangs set program records in hitting percentage (.252), aces (113), digs (781), and blocks (196.5). TMU opened the season 8–0 vs. NAIA opponents and rose to a No. 8 national ranking, earning wins over four top-15 teams.

The 2022 season also saw Diego Perez earn NAIA Honorable Mention All-American honors after setting multiple program records and becoming the first Mustang to be named NAIA National Attacker of the Week. Perez and Brett Norkus were named to the All-GSAC team.

Goldberg was named the second head coach in program history on January 25, 2021. In a shortened 10-match COVID season, he led the team to its first conference wins and coached Brandon Botdorf, the program’s first All-GSAC honoree.

Before TMU, Goldberg served as an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s volleyball teams at Harvard University (2017–2021). There, he helped guide the men’s team to its first EIVA Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2018. That season included a 10–4 EIVA record and a trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals against UCLA. During his time at Harvard, he coached seven All-EIVA men’s players and four All-Ivy women’s players.

In 2018, Goldberg led Team USA to a bronze medal at the FISU America Games in São Paulo, Brazil, through Athletes in Action, assembling a team of players from LSU, Pittsburgh, Arizona, NC State, American, Northwestern State, and Abilene Christian.
Prior to Harvard, Goldberg was an assistant women’s coach at Morehead State University (2015–2017), helping turn around a 3–29 team into a consistent OVC Tournament qualifier with double-digit wins in back-to-back seasons.

Goldberg began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) while completing his MBA. In 2015, he helped the Rebels achieve a 14-match win streak, which was tied for the longest in program history. During his time at Ole Miss, he also interned with USA Volleyball, serving as technical coordinator for the U.S. Junior National Team at the 2015 Global Challenge in Croatia.

As a player, Goldberg competed at Grand Canyon University, graduating in 2013 with a B.S. in Sports Management. He earned MIVA All-Academic honors twice and was one of four players in the conference to maintain a 4.0 GPA. On the court, he helped GCU to its first-ever postseason victory, upsetting defending national champion Ohio State. Goldberg later represented Team USA at the Maccabiah Games in Israel.

From 2014–2018, he also served as assistant director of tournament operations for the Capitol Hill Classic in Washington, D.C., managing over 3,600 matches and 122 courts across 703,000 square feet of space at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Goldberg is the son of AVCA Hall of Fame coach Barry Goldberg. He lives in Santa Clarita, California, with his wife Aryn, a former Morehead State volleyball player. Married in 2017, they have three sons: Silas, Simeon, and Samson.
