Coaching and Athletic Career


  • Woodward enters his fourth season as Director of Aquatics at TMU in 2021-22, while he will also serve as head coach.
  • He helped start the TMU Swimming & Diving program during its inaugural campaign in 2018-19. 
  • He earned a bronze medal at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games as a member of the U.S. 4x100 free relay team. 
  • Was a three-time NCAA Division 1 All-American while at USC and was a medalist at the 1999 World University Games in the 4x100-meter freestyle relay. He was a co-captain for the Trojans in 2001. 
  • Served as a U.S. co-captain at the 2007 Pan Am Games where he was a silver medalist in the 4x100 free relay and a bronze medalist in the 100 free.
  • At the 2008 Olympic Trials, Woodward was a finalist in the 100 free and a semifinalist in the 50 free. In 2010, he competed in the same two events at the U.S. Championships.
  • Graduated from USC in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in social sciences. 
  • Woodward is a native of Bakersfield, California, and is the owner of the Bakersfield Swim Academy and Bakersfield Swim Club. He is married to wife, Staci, and is blessed with four children.
