2016 (Freshman):Placed 45th at the Golden State Athletic Conference Championships (27 minutes, 48.4 seconds) ... competed in five races, his best time coming at conference championships.

Plymouth Christian Academy (Canton, Mich.): Competed at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Lower Peninsula Finals in Division 4 (2015) ... MHSAA Academic All-State Team (junior and senior year) ... track team captain (junior and senior) ... all-conference first team (senior) ... all-conference second team (sophomore and junior).  

Personal: Full name is Gareth Richard Matson... parents are Rich and Alyson ... sister is Hannah ... as for choosing Master's, "I was amazed at the God-honoring environment at Master's and I am looking forward to not just growing as a runner, but as a person and follower of Christ. I chose Master's because of the strong biblical foundation and how Master's athletes live out their faith on and off the course."
