Highlights:
  • Brooks completed his 29th season as head coach of The Master's University baseball team in 2025.
  • Earned the 800th win of his Master's career on Feb. 18, 2023. The program's all-time winningest coach, Brooks holds a record of 874-589-1, making him the 8th winningest coach among all active coaches in the NAIA.
  • Has led the Mustangs to four NAIA World Series appearances (2000, 2013, 2016, 2017) and three regular-season GSAC titles (2003, 2013, 2015).
  • Also captured three GSAC tournament titles (2013, 2016, 2017), with the Mustangs winning a program-record 44 games and reaching its highest national ranking ever (No. 5) in 2013.
  • Twenty-five of his players have earned NAIA All-American honors and four have received NAIA Gold Glove awards.
  • Has coached three GSAC Players of the Year, three GSAC Pitchers of the Year, one GSAC Freshman of the Year, 52 All-GSAC Team selections and 25 GSAC Gold Glove award recipients.
  • Brought a singular focus to the role when he became head coach before the 1997 season: “The motivation stems from loving the Lord with all your heart, soul and mind, and being a servant," Brooks said. "It’s about building the scriptures into the program to where these guys understand their real identity is in Christ and baseball is a part of their life and an opportunity to put Christ on display.”
  • Played collegiate baseball at San Jose City College and San Jose State University, where he graduated in 1990 with a degree in history.
  • Drafted by the San Diego Padres in 1987, Brooks spent four years in the minor leagues (in which he played all nine positions) and was part of two championship teams. He also played overseas, competing for Turin in Italy.
  • Was inducted into the Idaho Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999, his first year of eligibility.
  • Spent time coaching at Meridian High School in Idaho, Santa Clara University, and in the Padres organization before coming to Master's as an assistant in 1995, using his expertise with hitters and infielders.
  • His 1983 Meridian High School boys’ basketball team won the Idaho state title and was honored as the 2021 Idaho High School Activities Association’s boys’ basketball 'Legends of the Game'. That team was also recognized by MaxPreps as the greatest high school basketball team in Idaho history.
  • Earned an M.A. in education from Azusa Pacific University.
  • Serves as an Assistant Athletic Director at TMU.
  • Lives with his wife, Carole Anne, in Castaic. They have two daughters, Taylor Anne and Emme, and a son, Nick, who played baseball for Master's between 2016 and 2019.
