High Res The Master's Way Banner

At The Master's University, champions prepare and perform as an act of WORSHIP (Rom. 12:1).

Athletics at The Master’s University exists to train God glorifiers (Is. 43:7; 1 Cor. 10:31), gospel ambassadors (Mt. 28:18-20; 1 Cor. 9:23; 2 Cor. 5:14-21) and kingdom influencers (Mt. 25:14-30) For Christ & Scripture.

This means that intercollegiate athletics at TMU endeavors to train student athletes that, as an expression of love toward God, they are to glorify God through their preparation, practice and performance. This is accomplished by competing for God so people see Him and not them, by competing to God as an act of worship, by competing through God in dependence on Him, and by competing with a view to the imperishable reward coming from God.

Further, this means that TMU endeavors to train student-athletes to be ambassadors of the gospel by prioritizing and promoting the gospel of Jesus Christ on each team and by displaying exemplary speech and conduct. Finally, this means that TMU trains student-athletes to become leaders and influencers who love God by impacting the world in which they live, work and minister so that the kingdom of God is advanced, Jesus Christ is honored, the church is benefited and people are blessed.

This is how we define winning at Master's. This is our goal and the measure of our success. The real scoreboard will be defined by this, and what we applaud and reward will reflect it.

Therefore, in recognition of this mission, we call each athlete and coach to model The Master’s Way: To prepare and perform as an act of WORSHIP (Rom. 12:1).

Swimming and Diving

Throughout the course of a season, a swimmer will put in dozens of early mornings and tens of thousands of strokes. Head Coach Curren Bates trains The Master's University Swim & Dive teams to focus on integrity in every practice, through every yard, with every stroke. He also emphasizes a focus on the team aspect of the sport, which translates to brothers and sisters in Christ coming together to push each other to excel and glorify the Lord, both in and out of the pool. The Mustangs believe focusing on these things will help them build on the program's early success. In its first few seasons, TMU Swim & Dive has produced NAIA All-Americans in three events and sent 10 athletes to the NAIA National Championship.

Men's Cross Country

TMU’s men’s cross country team has won 12 consecutive Golden State Athletic Conference titles. However, what defines the team is a pervasive desire to grow in Christlikeness.

Women's Cross Country

After winning back-to-back Golden State Athletic Conference titles for the first time in program history, TMU Women's Cross Country's mission remains the same: to prepare and perform as an act of WORSHIP.

Women's Basketball

The Master's University's women's basketball program has produced 31 All-Americans, an NAIA Player of the Year and a WNBA champion. More importantly, it has fostered a culture defined by a commitment to Christ and Scripture and a tight bond among teammates.

Men's and Women's Golf

Golf is a game filled with adversity. The men's and women's golf teams at The Master's University aim to overcome the challenges they face through hope and perseverance as they glorify God in and out of competition.

Men's and Women's Track & Field

The Master's University track and field programs have long been successful in distance running events. But in recent years, the team has expanded its presence in the pole vault, high jump, javelin and other field events. What hasn't changed is the Mustangs' desire to do it all as an act of worship.

Baseball

TMU Baseball has produced three Major League Baseball players, 26 MLB Draft picks, and six first-team NAIA All-Americans, reaching the NAIA World Series four times. However, what most characterizes the program is its desire to “Serve the King.”

Men's Volleyball

At The Master's University, men's volleyball is the newest program to call Bross Court home. But through hard work and a competitive spirit, the team climbed into the NAIA’s national rankings for the first time in spring 2022. Above all, the team is built on a desire to honor Christ both on and off the court.

Women's Volleyball

TMU Women’s Volleyball has won two Golden State Athletic Conference titles in the last four years. But what’s more important to head coach Annett Davis is that the Mustangs are striving to do all things as unto the Lord.

Men's Soccer

Having produced 39 All-Americans over the years, The Master’s University men’s soccer team has built a legacy of on-field excellence under the leadership of head coach Jim Rickard. But the most important hallmarks of the program are a team-first mentality and a focus on honoring the Lord, developing deep friendships and growing in Christlikeness.

Women's Soccer

Even with a legacy of NAIA All-Americans and NAIA National Tournament appearances, the women's soccer program at The Master's University defines success as bringing God fame in the way they compete. The Lady Mustangs are grateful to compete with likeminded believers who have the same desire to glorify God both on and off the field.

Beach Volleyball

The future is bright for one of The Master's University's newest programs. Entering its fourth season in 2023, beach volleyball has already produced All-Golden State Athletic Conference selections and a GSAC Pair of the Year. 2022 GSAC Coach of the Year Annett Davis encourages her team to work hard, play together as a team, and bring every aspect of the sport under the lordship of Christ.
