Biography

2017-18: The Mustangs' most complete player, Russell fills up the stat sheet on a nightly basis ... takes pride in performance on the defensive end, where he earned GSAC Defensive Player of the Year a season ago ... can beat you from behind the arc, in the midrange or at the rim. 

2016-17: Enjoyed an electric first season in the program, showing his skills as one of the finest all-around performers in the country culminating in All-GSAC, Conference Defensive Player of the Year, and NAIA Honorable Mention All-American honors…one of two players to start every game, he led the team in rebounding, field goals, and steals, and was second in scoring, assists, and blocked shots…finished second in the GSAC in rebounding and steals…scored in double figures in the club’s first 12 games of the campaign and finished with 25 double-digit performances…tallied 21 points in his TMU debut vs. Antelope Valley on 11/4/16…drained a season-high 24 points against Vanguard on 2/25/17…produced eight double-doubles in his first 12 starts and completed the season with 11…pulled down a season-best 15 rebounds against Arizona Christian on 3/3/17…handed out four assists or more 15 times, highlighted by a season-best 11 vs. La Sierra on 12/17/16…recorded three or more steals in a game 11 times, including a season-high six against Embry-Riddle (AZ) on 11/11/16. 

Lower Columbia CC:  Played the 2015-16 season for the Red Devils and started all 29 games…averaged 17.1ppg and 7.4rpg…scored in double figures 26 times, including a season-high 30 points against Tacoma CC…yanked down 10 or more rebounds eight times, highlighted by a season-best 14 vs. Chemeketa CC…notched eight double-doubles. 

Elsinore HS:  Played three years for the Tigers, who went 30-0 in Sunbelt League during that time en route to three consecutive league championships…the club qualified for the CIF Southern Section Division 2A playoffs each of those seasons and reached the semifinals in his sophomore and senior seasons, respectively…earned first-team All-Sunbelt League honors his final two prep seasons and was a All-CIF State Division II second-team choice his senior year…played in the Inland Empire All-Star Game following his senior year.
